Mountain or seaside? Beach bar or secret cove? Traditional villages or luxury resorts? Halkidiki caters to every taste
Blessed with bright sun, emerald sea and golden sand, Halkidiki is where all your senses come to life. From small fishing villages and secluded bays to cosmopolitan beaches and vivid socializing spots, the three peninsulas, or so called ‘’fingers’’, promise an unforgettable experience. Dive deep and let the scent of pine trees and salty waters of Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos relax your body and mind.
The first and westernmost finger of Halkidiki, Kassandra, is the main resort area and full of life and stunning beaches. Explore the hiking trail of Bousoulas bird sanctuary and if you want to cool off, let the sun guide you to the coastline paradise of Paliouri, Hanioti, Possidi, Fourka or Elani.
The picturesque village of Afitos, with its cobbled streets and stone houses, is one of the most remarkable traditional settlements of Halkidiki. It has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and thanks to its natural fortified location and its abundant waters, it has never managed to disappear as a settlement.
Between mountainous landscapes and mesmerizing beaches, lies the second finger of Halkidiki, Sithonia. Haven for nature lovers, its unspoiled crystal-clear sea and traditional delicacies create the most delightful sanctuary. Take a deep breath and dive in the pristine waters of Vourvourou, Kavourotripes, Lagomandra, Sarti or Porto Koufo. Feeling sociable? Cosmopolitan beach bars invite you to dance or relax while sipping colourful cocktails.
One of the oldest monastic communities in the world is located in Athos, the third finger of Halkidiki. This is the only monastic republic within Europe and it is ruled by monks who live there. Only males can visit the uniquely built monasteries while Ouranoupoli, the main town, is open for all. The spectacular view of mount Athos and the Byzantine architecture of the monasteries are also available to all travelers through breathtaking cruises.
Turquoise water, dense pine forests, dreamy hotels, small coves with fish tavernas and cafes, beach bars, archaeological sites, traditional villages.
Made to be explored with all your senses.
