Ios
Ios is an island with two sides… once a legendary party island it is now re-inventing itself as a more tranquil destination and some of Greece's best beaches are to be found here..
When the day dawns you’ll find traditional Cycladic homes, cafes and children playing in the town squares, alongside stairways coated with whitewash, stylish boutiques and restaurants offering local and international cuisine. And all the while, the beautiful Church of Panagia Gremiotissa that sits above the main town watches calmly over everything.
The revelry on this beach begins early. So it’s worth arriving early at Milopotas. A beach with emerald-coloured water, beach bars, fine sand, water sports, cafes..
Making your way up to Panagia Gremiotissa Church, next to the Venetian castle, you see Hora from another perspective. Cube-shaped homes form an amphitheatre and churches emerge from the slopes of this town built upon the site of an ancient city.
Ios’ labyrinth of alleyways is full of Cycladic whitewashed houses and churches, flower-filled patios, aromas emanating from the bakery and women gossiping on their stoops while they knit.
With more than 35 startling beaches as well as coves with golden sand and clear blue waters, the beautiful island of Ios is considered one of the top 10 islands with the best beaches in all of the Mediterranean.
Manganari beach is formed by 4 consecutive beaches, creating a majestic lagoon rightfully regarded as one of the most beautiful places to swim in all of the Aegean.
